This is a straightforward Image Text recognition OCR app. It offers a convenient way to extract text from any photo by simply tapping the share button and selecting this extension. The app utilizes optical character recognition to accurately retrieve the text contained within the image. Additionally, it provides access to the image's EXIF metadata and can detect phone numbers, addresses, websites, and emails.
All processing is performed directly on the user's device, ensuring complete privacy as no image data is ever transmitted. The app guarantees a 100% private experience with no ads, subscriptions, or third-party analytics.
Key features of this app include:
- Scanning and OCR capabilities directly from the camera within the app.
- Support for shortcuts to streamline workflow, allowing users to input an image and receive a JSON string with extracted text, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, websites, and optional EXIF data. The app includes instructions on how to use shortcuts and even offers an example camera shortcut.
- Automatic detection of phone numbers, addresses, websites, and emails within the recognized text with the option to open them in their respective apps.
- Settings that allow parsing of tabular data. Users can specify separators for table rows, columns, and text that appears nearby on the same or a new line. This enables the app to process images containing tables and provide a CSV output.
- Highlighted display of recognized lines when tapped.
- Location highlighting of lines in the image when searching for specific text.
- The ability to manually crop selected portions of an image for OCR.
- An accurate mode that is turned on by default, capable of recognizing custom fonts and handling challenging lighting conditions. Users can switch to a "Fast" mode for quicker results, albeit with slightly reduced accuracy.
- An "Intelligent New Line" mode setting, ensuring the addition of new line characters only when the top left corner of a line falls below the bottom left of the previous line. This prevents unnecessary line breaks.
- Options to copy and share recognized text and EXIF data.
- The ability to share images without including EXIF metadata.
- Additional language support (available from iOS 14 onwards): "en-US", "fr-FR", "it-IT", "de-DE", "es-ES", "pt-BR".
The free version allows users to view a limited number of recognized text lines. Upgrading via a small in-app purchase unlocks unlimited text recognition permanently.
